Charcoals

Charcoals are a way for me to get back to where I started. To capture the essence of the person, I start with their eyes. I love being able to convey emotions with such a simple, natural earthy medium.

I spent my summers at the beach walking amongst the driftwood and pieces of charcoal that dotted the shoreline. Working with something that would wash up between my toes gives me a very warm comfortable feeling.  Capturing feelings and moments from one's lifetime in simple lights and darks is the best feeling in the world.
