About the Painting:
The title for this painting is a reference to Judy Garland’s monumental portrayal of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
The comparisons between Judy and the beloved Dorothy are undeniable; two naïve young girls, both facing their fears and an uncertain future. Unfortunately, they have two entirely different outcomes – Dorothy’s protected by her dream, while Judy is destroyed chasing hers.
There was no other choice for me but to have Judy model Frank Lloyd Wright’s own Home and Studio. This cozy and inviting home emits a feeling of comfort and security. In the painting, we see Judy almost under the ground, suggesting a wholesome earthy young lady.
The large established tree grounds the painting, and lends a rooted quality to the piece. A bright blue daytime sky with trees in bloom sets an almost unattainable cheerful mood. Her soft violet sweater speaks to her youthfulness, giving her an ethereal aura.
This painting was all about the eyes. I wanted to capture a wistful hope for the future. The feeling that while dark unforeseen things happen in life, still, “There is No Place Like Home.”

About Judy Garland (1922-1969)
Judy Garland was an American actress, singer, dancer, and vaudevillian. During a career that spanned 45 years, she attained international stardom as an actress in both musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist, and on the concert stage. Although most famous for her performance in The Wizard of Oz, she also performed in Meet Me In St. Louis, The Harvey Girls, Easter Parade, A Star is Born, and Judgement at Nuremburg.

Prints on fine art paper include a white border for easy framing, which can also act as a mat. Therefore, your image will be smaller than its total paper size. Border sizes are stated and shown in the photo of each listing.

Shipping
I currently ship within Canada and the Continental United States. Each print is hand packed by me to ensure its safe arrival. Please understand that I am a single artist, working full time, and printing each painting to order, so expect up to three weeks for arrival.
I provide budget-friendly Domestic shipping within Canada, however Canada Post does not provide a tracking number for this method. You will receive a notification from my store when your painting has been shipped.
If you live in the United States, Canada Post does provide a tracking number that will be included in your shipping notification.
If you do not receive an email stating that your painting has shipped within two weeks, please contact me.
In the unlikely event there is a problem during shipping, please photograph the packaging and the problem and contact me so that I can contact the Post.
